Alan's initial tre...UPDATE WEDNESDAY, 8.25.2010<br />Alan's initial treatment for lung transplant rejection at Duke was a successful first step. The meds shut down much of Alan's immune system. Next comes an intensive month of two IV antibiotics, one 4x a day and the other 3x, delivered through a PIC line to substitute for Alan's immune system. Then, Alan stays on IV antibiotics 3x a day for a year as he rebuilds his immune system.
